It don’t mean a thing, unless you’ve got a 25 cent piece.

Humble blogger says: buy me a bag of these!

Famed jazz musician Duke Ellington has become the first African-American to find himself featured on a newly minted U.S. quarter and today, was celebrated from making Washington’s U Street as the mecca of music and entertainment.

And there’s a lot to be said for the power of music; Ellington beat out the likes of famed abolitionist Frederick Douglass and astronomer Benjamin Benneker. Drools! You can read all about the quarter and its subsequent celebration, which happened today in the nation’s capitol, here.

Tis a good day for jazz, kittens.

Enjoy.
