Flown around…

It’s been done up and down the river: Billie Holiday, Bunny Berigan and his Orchestra, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Sam Cooke…you name it.

And while Ella Fitzgerald’s rendition of “I Can’t Get Started…” may just very well be humble blogger’s most favorite version of the famed jazz tune, it’s Billie Holiday, Lester Young and Teddy Wilson who haunt me this week.

The tune, written by Ira Gershwin and Vernon Duke, was originally done for the theatrical production Zeigfeld Follies of 1936.

So, here’s to you my readers. What is your favorite famed jazz tune? Rendition of “I Can’t Get Started”? Would you be so bold as to play this at your wedding?

Enjoy.
