I remember the first time I heard Sophie. The doc and I were existing in an extremely long distance relationship, and I had started my summer break from work with two weeks in Phoenix. It was 2013. While he was at work and the sun blazed constant outside, I took to this space and wrote […]
This track is killing. Expect it to be quite the summer jam, on repeat. Enjoy.
Sophie certainly has made the rounds this summer, producing some of the repeat tracks on the season. But “Hey QT” has to be the most brilliant one yet from the London-based producer. Dripping in irony, like much of the other work, this track is definitely on repeat, repeat, repeat.
Killed it. Nailed it. So fucking good. This might be humblest summer jam of all jams. (via Nialler9)
Often times, late in the eve, when I’m catching up on random sorts of things and just spending quiet time with a cup of tea, I crave lighthearted, sentimental–straight lovely–tunes as light, soothing background fodder. Tunes we can’t stop spinning, some which are bangers, some which bring you down a few notches. And of course, a tribute to pioneering electronic artist, Sophie, in the notes and the tracks. No. 51 features tunes from Claud, Local Natives, Hannah Jadagu, The Avalanches, Katy Kirby, and more. Including an ending that pays tribute […]

It’s been a great summer, filled with so many tunes on repeat. Zanimal and I even managed to see Grapetooth perform their first “official” gig, in their hometown Chicago at Lincoln Hall, and boy, when they finally release a debut record, be ready for it. We feature their track, “Violent”, on podcast number 40, a […]
It’s finally summer. Which means, a whole new set of tunes to dance you right into the long days by the shore. And it features a whole host of bands and artists we can’t stop spinning and a bunch of late summer releases. Rigamarole, of course, includes that the podcast is available for streaming and download at […]
Critics and listeners often pick apart the music women create, studying their personal lives and movements; the notion that women’s music comes from deep within the personal and that their lyrics can only be autobiographical is to greatly underscore their musicality, their inventiveness, their artistry. Ultimately, their imagination. But the women in music this year […]
